FAQ's
What is The Rock?
The Rock Program is a student-serving program geared toward empowering all middle and high school students to reach their full potential. The Rock Program has resource rooms on school campuses that are stocked with essential supplies for students to take as they need. These Rock Rooms strive to offer students with three things: Refuge, Foundation, and Purpose. No questions asked, just support offered. Students have free access to confidence-building items including: clothing, shoes, food, school supplies, hygiene items and feminine hygiene supplies.
How does it work?
The Rock Program is a place where students can seek what they need. Anytime a student experiences a need they can ask a member of their school staff to go to The Rock Room. Rock Rooms are dedicated spaces within school grounds where essential resources are kept for students. There students can get what they need and return to class. In cases where students need multiple items, or need to take food home, they simply pack a bag at The Rock and leave it at the front desk to pickup at the end of the day.
Where is The Rock located? When it is open?
The Rock Program has a central storage location where donations are processed and stored, but all Rock Rooms are located on school campuses. Each Rock Room runs on its own unique schedule, based on campus specifications. Volunteer shifts are hosted based on each room schedule. But students can be served at anytime during the school day.
Who can go to The Rock?
The Rock Program does not discriminate. All students are welcome to go to their school’s Rock Room to get the essential supplies they need.
Where can I bring donations to?
Donations are always appreciated and can be brought to the central Rock storage location next to Hillcrest School. 3143 SE 17th ST, Ocala, FL 34471, Portable #85-914. The Rock’s portable is on the corner portable next to the bus parking lot. There are two donation drop bins where donations can be placed anytime. These bins are emptied regularly, so no need to worry about leaving your items. If you have a large donation drop off, please call ahead to schedule a drop off 352.304.9288.
What does the Rock need? How can I help?
For a list of most needed items, please see our Amazon Wish lists. Anything purchased through the wishlist links will be shipped directly to The Rock! Outside of physical donations, The Rock Program is always in need of volunteer support. If you can’t volunteer, consider sharing The Rock Program with a friend or colleague who you think may want to get involved.
